Specification Overview: Based on IEC 63280

This specification is based on the upcoming IEC 63280 standard (formerly VDI/VDE/NAMUR 2658), as referenced in the "Standard References" section.

To simplify implementation for manufacturers who may not support the full feature set of IEC 63280, this OPC UA specification has been prepared. Some functionalities from the standard, such as Operation Mode or Source Mode, have been simplified or omitted in this specification.

Key Features and Requirements

Automatic Mapping: By adhering to this specification, your code and OPC UA server will enable seamless automatic mapping to an orchestration system.

Signal List Requirement: A signal list must be provided, including all OPC UA items published by the OPC UA server, as well as configuration parameters (e.g., units or scaling boundaries). This list should be submitted in an Excel file format, using a template that will be provided.

Compatibility with ISA S88

While the terminology in this OPC UA specification differs from ISA S88, the underlying functionality is fully compatible. For example:

• • Services, Procedures, and Parameters in this specification correspond to Phases, Control Strategies, and Parameters in ISA S88.

This approach ensures compatibility and simplifies the adoption of IEC 63280-compliant solutions.
